Join the Blackstone Watershed Collaborative, Tighe & Bond, and Hayward Landing Associates to learn more about the ongoing efforts to remove two Significant-Hazard, privately owned dams in Douglas, MA.
The Douglas Mill Pond Dam and the Old Mill Pond Dam behind Hayward Landing Apartments (26 North Street) are in poor condition, serve no current purpose, and impact water quality and habit connection for local species, including coldwater fish species such as Brook Trout. Their removal would connect over 7 miles of river habitat and improve local community resilience by eliminating the danger of a failure.
Learn more about the site, current status of the plan, benefits of removal, timeline, and next steps. All are welcome!
Light refreshments will be served.
This work is funded through grants from the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
